Congregations are Building Affordable Housing on Their Land

To update you on CLUE-VC’s housing justice work:

Clergy, congregation leaders, and staff have been invited to hear about how faith communities can use a new California state law, SB 4, to expand and deepen their role in serving God and the needs of our human family.  The new law streamlines the process of creating affordable housing on vacant or underused property owned by a church, synagogue, temple or mosque.

You, too, as a housing justice advocate, are invited to hear more and to help us engage more congregations. CLUE-VC, Buen Vecino, and Many Mansions are holding two Zoom gathering on either of the dates below to hear from trusted local affordable housing developers about the opportunities presented by SB 4, to explore what can be built, and to answer questions.

Sunday, February 18
2:00 pm
On Zoom: Register at: bit.ly/SB4

Faith institutions now have a unique opportunity to help alleviate the suffering of people struggling to afford a safe and affordable place to live – veterans, seniors, young families, people with disabilities, low- and moderate-income earners, and other community members in need.  At the same time, turning vacant or underutilized land or buildings into into housing can provide a substantial financial benefit for congregations to further support their mission to serve their community.

Will you join us?

We wish you a blessed New Year and look forward to seeing you soon!

Sincerely,

Your CLUE-VC Board
Rev. Betty, Rev. Benjamin, Rev. Melissa, Tim, Cynthia, and Nan
